FIFA 22 Winter Wildcards: Release date, featured players, SBCs

Winter Wildcards is the next Ultimate Team promo set to hit FIFA 22 and it is strongly reminding players of FUT Freeze.

Winter Wildcard Ultimate Team

Ultimate Team players believed that the FUT Versus promo would take the place of last year’s beloved FUT Freeze. Now, it looks like we’re getting FUT Freeze under its new moniker, Winter Wildcards.

EA aren’t afraid to think outside of the box when it comes to Ultimate Team promos. Just when you think you know what to expect they deliver a surprise. This is exactly what occurred with the previous promo as fans expected FUT Freeze but got FUT Versus instead.

FUT Versus is a brand new promo that debuted in FIFA 22. Players assumed that this would replace last year’s FUT Freeze promo. However, new information concerning the Winter Wildcards promo suggests that FUT Freeze is making a return under a new name.

FIFA 22 Winter Wildcards release date

Winter Wildcards mini release

The upcoming promo has been revealed through FUT loading screens. The Winter Wildcards promotion is set to arrive on Friday, 17 December at around 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT / 7 PM CET. These special items will remain in packs until Thursday, December 23 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT / 7 PM CET, when they will be replaced with Team 2.

Winter-themed promotions tend to generate a lot of excitement and Winter Wildcards will aim to maintain this trend.

What is FUT’s Winter Wildcards promo?

Wildcards promo screen

The Winter Wildcards promo seems heavily inspired by last year’s FUT Freeze. As with most promos, a stat boost is administered to the players involved. However, only some players can be seen in a new position.

“From supernatural boosts to shapeshifting upgrades and the powerhouses in between, Winter Wildcard Player Items will receive a variety of permanent boosts inspired by past, present, and potential future FUT player upgrades.”

The most important change is a positional one. The idea of changing the base position of players is what made FUT Freeze such a special promo. For example, FUT Freeze Adama Traoré went from a RW to a LB. This drastic change allowed for new squad-building possibilities.

PSG’s Neymar is the big-name player that is set to headline the Winter Wildcards promo. Interestingly enough his natural position of LW has shifted to ST. French superstars Paul Pogba and Kinglsey Coman are also highly sought-after players included in the promo.

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team: Team of the Week 18 predictions: Fernandes, Ben Yedder, Lewandowski

FIFA 22’s Team of the Week 18 is set to drop on January 19, and we’ve predicted who will get an in-form card with major stat upgrades.

TOTW 18 predictions FUT

The new year of football has been coming thick and fast, with plenty of games and goals. As always, EA Sports are set to drop some new in-form players in packs this week, and here are the players we think will feature in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team’s Team of the Week 18.

Each and every week, EA drops the Team of the Week into FIFA 22 Ultimate Team to reward the stars who made the headlines in the previous round of fixtures.

The chosen squad of players receive a special card in packs for the next week for FUT fans to hunt down and use to improve their teams.

Next up is Team of the Week 18, so here are our predictions of who will be included in the next FUT TOTW lineup.

FIFA 22 Team of the Week 18 release day

PSG players in FIFA 22

FIFA’s Team of the Week drops weekly, so players can expect TOTW 18 to release on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT, with an announcement from EA usually coming shortly before.

TOTW cards replace the normal cards of the player in packs for the duration of the week, meaning that the upgraded card is the only version it is possible to pack for seven days.

Each wave of in-forms remains in packs until they are replaced by the next Team of the Week on the following Wednesday.

Team of the Week 18 predictions

Chelsea players celebrating in FIFA 22

The Bundesliga, Serie A, Premier League, and Ligue 1 were in full swing last week with La Liga’s sole fixture taking a backseat to the aforementioned leagues.

Robert Lewandowski’s presence in TOTW 18 is all but confirmed as the clinical Striker scored three goals for Bayern Munich in a dominant 4-0 win against Köln. In terms of forwards making the cut, Ciro Immobile, Wissam Ben Yedder, and Erling Haaland all scored two goals over the weekend.

Elsewhere, Bruno Fernandes is a strong shout after scoring two goals in an incredible 2-2 draw against Aston Villa. Both Seko Fofana and Kevin De Bruyne scored mesmerizing game-winning goals for their clubs. Finally, speedy center-back Jeremiah St. Juste scored a rare goal for his club Mainz 05 and FUT players believe his stats fit the current meta perfectly.

We’ll have to wait until Wednesday to find out the official squad for Team of the Week 18, but, until then, here are our best predictions.

  • Jose Sa – Wolves – GK
  • Salih Dursun – Fatih Karagümrük – RB

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team sniping guide: What is sniping, how to snipe & make coins

Sniping players is an easy way to make coins in FUT, so we’ve made a complete FIFA 22 Ultimate Team sniping guide.

Mbappe FUT card with FIFA 22 logo

Sniping is an invaluable skill when buying players in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team because it helps keep hold of some of those precious coins. Here’s a full guide on what sniping is, how to do it, and how to use it to make FIFA coins.

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team is all about filling out your team with the best possible players, from clinical strikers to clutch defenders. If you’re lucky, you’ll pull your dream player from a pack, but there’s a good chance you’ll have to tackle the Transfer Market instead.

While every player has a specific value, like any market you can secure a bargain if you put the time into sniping rather than just paying upfront. We’ve put together an in-depth guide on how you can snipe your dream team, and save yourself some coins in the process.

Table of contents

What is sniping in FIFA 22?

FIFA 22 webapp transfer market

Simply put, sniping is the art of bagging a player from the Transfer Market for less than its usual value. This usually requires the user to act quickly and make the purchase seconds after the listing goes live.

Other FUT fans that are looking to sell a player quickly, or perhaps didn’t check the market properly, will occasionally list players for much less than they are usually worth. These are the listings you are on the hunt for.

FIFA 22 FUT hub transfer

How to snipe in FIFA 22

  1. Type the player’s name into the search box in the top-left corner
  2. Check the market value of the player you want to snipe
  3. Adjust the Buy Now slider for the most you are aiming to spend
  4. Hit search and look at the listings
  5. Quickly try to buy the cheapest player who pops up
  6. Refresh and repeat

If you’re looking to snipe a specific player, the first thing to do is type their name into the search box on the top-left of the market screen. This means that only listings for that player will show up and you won’t accidentally buy the wrong man.

Then you’ll need to check the actual market value of whoever you’re looking for to get an idea of what sort of price filters you need to set up.

Once you know how much they usually sell for, head to the price filters on the bottom-left tile and adjust the Buy Now slider to slightly less. There isn’t a certain price that guarantees you’ll find a listing, so it’s best to set it for the absolute maximum you would be willing to spend.

From here, it’s just a case of refreshing the market until one pops up so you can move in for the snipe. There are thousands of other snipers who may be trying the same thing, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t win the battle every time.

How to refresh the market quickly

One of the hardest parts of sniping is being the first to get onto the market so you can snatch a player before everyone else. If you’re too slow, then you’ll find yourself missing out more often than not.

Luckily, EA have provided a way of refreshing the market quickly if you follow this step-by-step guide:

  1. Set the Buy Now filter to the maximum number of coins you want to spend
  2. Adjust the Bid Price filter to 15,000,000 – the highest it will go
  3. Edit the filters to criteria you are looking for
  4. If no listings, or you lose out, quickly go back to the Bid Price fliter and move it down one
  5. Hit search again

Carrying out this method each time refreshes the market quicker than simply searching again with the same criteria. It takes practice to get the hang of, but the quicker you can pull it off, the more successful you will be.

How to make FIFA coins through sniping

FIFA 22 Transfer list screenshot

While sniping is a great way to land a player for your Ultimate Team at a big discount, it’s also a way that savvier FUT fans can make easy coins.

By sniping lots of cards for a lower price, you can then re-list them back on the market for their actual value and net a tidy profit.

This can be a way to make small gains over a long period of time or make big bucks in one swoop if you’re able to snipe a high-value player for a lot less than he’s worth.

If your aim is purely to make coins, consider casting a wider net with your filters instead of looking for a specific card. For example, if French defenders are going up in value, search for all of them rather than just Kounde or Lacroix.

Who to snipe in FIFA 22

If you’re looking to sell cards to earn some coins, it’s best to go for those that are in demand.

That means sniping any players, managers, or consumables that are rare, needed for a Squad Building Challenge, have a high value, or are out of packs.

The market is always changing, but here are some transfer targets to get you started:

  • CBs with a high pace stat
  • Brazilian mangers
  • Hunter Chemistry Style
  • Players required for SBCs
  • French players
  • Silver cards from the top five leagues

Why you’re finding it difficult to snipe in FIFA 22

FIFA 22 Buy Now screenshot

Even if you get the hang of sniping players, you may notice that they are often snapped before your fingers can react. There are a number of reasons why this could be happening.

The first is your internet connection. If there are multiple snipers all going for the same card at the same time, those with slower internet speeds will always find they come out in second place.

There’s also the issue of other users, especially on PC, bots to buy players automatically. These bits of software quickly snap up listed cards within microseconds of them going live.

Unfortunately, when it comes to snipe bots there isn’t much you can do other than try and hunt for a different card that may not be as obvious.

Best FIFA 22 camera settings for Ultimate Team

Here are the best FIFA 22 camera settings you can try out to give yourself an edge over your opponents.

Stadium in FIFA 22

When playing a game of FIFA, the camera can give you an advantage over your opponents, so here are the best camera settings that you can utilize in FIFA 22.

Players have been enjoying FIFA 22 for months now, and we’ve had plenty of time to try out some of the best skill moves, players, and goalkeepers in this year’s Ultimate Team.

If you just can’t seem to feel comfortable with the default camera settings, you have the option of giving yourself a slight edge over your opponents by changing it. If you’re looking for a competitive edge, then check out our best camera settings in FIFA 22.

Best FIFA 22 camera settings

FIFA 22 stadium

When you first launch FIFA 22, the game’s cameras will be set to the EA Sports GameCam. While this gives you the same standard view as other players, you can try tipping the odds in your favor.

Here are the options that we recommend :

  1. Launch FIFA 22
  2. Visit the Options menu
  3. Select the “Camera” tab
  4. Switch both Single Player and Multiplayer Cameras to ‘Tele Broadcast’
  5. Set ‘Camera Height’ to anything between 10 to 17
  6. Set ‘Camera Zoom’ to zero

Switching both the Single Player Camera and Multiplayer Camera to the ‘Tele Broadcast’ option will provide you with a better look at the pitch, and the camera height lets you see the field better as well.

Once your overall display has been improved, you can alter the Camera Height and Camera Zoom settings. You can try adjusting these however you’d like until you’re satisfied with the camera settings.
