CoD: Vanguard players are fuming over “frustrating” Atomic camo grind

CoD: Vanguard players are expressing their frustration with the game’s notoriously difficult unlock challenge for the Atomic camo.

CoD: Vanguard’s Atomic mastery camo is notoriously difficult to acquire, and players are expressing their frustration with the camo’s controversial unlock challenge.

Unlocking new weapon skins in multiplayer is one of the most fun aspects of playing a Call of Duty title, and mastery camo skins require you to grind for several games before you can acquire them.

Vanguard’s incredible Atomic mastery camo is locked behind a notoriously difficult challenge, and players are fuming over how long it takes for them to get their hands on this valuable weapon skin.

Atomic camo in Vanguard

Reddit user ‘sofasonics’ posted a rant about weapon camos in the CoD: Vanguard subreddit, stating that a Level 60 challenge requires them to use an attachment that becomes unlocked at Level 68.

Many of the commenters criticized the Atomic camo challenge, with one player calling it “beyond frustrating” as it requires you to unlock Diamond camos in every weapon class, from Assault Rifles all the way to Melee weapons.

One user left this challenge because it was taking a long time to complete: “I gave up on grinding Atomic after they fixed Panzerfaust 3 killstreak challenge and I had just started grinding Marksman and Sniper Rifles.”

The Vanguard Atomic camo challenge has come under fire from players before, and the developers made changes to the unlock requirements in response. However, that hasn’t made players less upset with the difficulty.

Some players were demotivated from playing because of this challenge, with one user commenting: “I just wanna say I finished Atomic and don’t feel like playing the [multiplayer] ever again.”

You can try speeding up this process by trying out this useful trick involving DLC weapons which makes it much easier to acquire Diamond camo on melee weapons, but you’ll still need to do some serious grinding.

Vanguard February 3 update

Sledgehammer Games have been rolling out consistent updates leading up to Season 2 and the February 3 update provides a nerf to the Welgun, bundle fixes, and Launcher challenge changes in Call of Duty Vanguard.

Slowly but surely, Sledgehammer are tackling the ongoing issues plaguing Vanguard at the moment. The devs have been providing frequent updates that clear up minor issues and the latest one hit the game on February 3.

Here is every change made in Vanguard’s February 3 update which nerfed the Welgun, made Launcher challenges easier, and fixed bundles available in the Store.

Welgun SMG attachments nerfed

The Welgun was added to the Vanguard weapon pool via the mid-Season 1 update. It quickly became a fan-favorite in Warzone and Vanguard due to its rapid TTK.

Vanguard players may have to find another dominant SMG as this update on February 3 has nerfed the Welgun by fixing a bug that affected two attachments which caused it to overperform.

At this moment there has been no mention of which attachments are referenced but we will update this section if that information becomes available.

Vanguard Panzerfaust camo challenge tracking

Panzerfaust Vanguard launcher

After numerous complaints concerning the difficulty of completing Launcher camo challenges in Vanguard, it seems this update has simplified the process slightly.

Those grinding for the coveted Atomic camo cannot escape the Launcher category. Thankfully, the Panzerfaust is now more effective against Spy Plans and Counter Spy Planes. In addition, splash damage kills will now track toward longshot kills for the weapon.

If you’ve been putting off completing the Launcher camo grind, now is the perfect time to give it a go.

75% of Vanguard players want MVP screen removed in Season 2

The majority of Vanguard players have had enough of the MVP screen as 75% would like to see the feature removed from the game.

Vanguard MVP screen

A recent poll on the Vanguard subreddit with over 6000 submitted votes has revealed that 75% of players want to see the MVP screen removed with the arrival of Vanguard Season 2.

When Vanguard launched back in November 2021 it brought several new features to the franchise including Combat Pacing, reactive environments, and the MVP voting screen.

It’s safe to say that most new inclusions have been welcomed by fans except for the notorious MVP screen. Players voiced their frustrations relating to the MVP screen in the past and a recent poll indicates that their opinions have not wavered.

MVP screen Operators Vanguard

The MVP screen pops up after every match without fail. It is an inescapable aspect of the Vanguard Multiplayer experience as it highlights three players on your team who achieved notable accomplishments.

Each player in the lobby can cast a vote for one of the three nominees on their team. It’s a painstaking process that takes up a considerable amount of time after matches. A recent poll posted to the Vanguard subreddit proves that most players want to see it gone.

The poll is presented as a petition to remove the unwanted feature from the game. Whether or not the devs will ever see the post remains to be seen but the original goal of getting 5,000 votes was comfortably surpassed.

At the time of writing, the poll has over 6,200 total votes. Players can select three answers to the question “Do you want the MVP screen removed?” : Yes, No, or I don’t care. The Yes option received a resounding 75% of votes, which indicates the majority of players want to see the MVP screen disappear.

The consensus from players seems to be that the MVP screen simply wastes too much of their game time after matches which slows down the Multiplayer experience, “I don’t like the dead time it adds to the game. Matchmaking already is long enough. 2XP tokens count down real time. Estimate at least 25% is wasted in nongameplay cinematics.”

Many gamers have a limited amount of game time per day and the MVP screen detracts from gameplay by eating into their precious time.

Bizarre Vanguard Optic glitch is making it impossible to aim

Vanguard players are unable to shoot straight due to an Optic glitch that is messing up the alignment of reticles.

Vanguard optic glitch

A new Vanguard glitch is prohibiting players from aiming straight due to off-centered sights on weapon Optics.

Of all the bugs and glitches running rampant in Vanguard Multiplayer at the moment, this new Optic glitch may be one of the most limiting as it prohibits players from accurately taking down enemies.

Due to a strange issue with the centering of reticles on Optics, players are finding it difficult to hit accurate shots.

Vanguard glitched optic sight

A post shared to the Vanguard subreddit showcases a player testing out different Optics on an MP40. At first, the player displays the weapon’s iron sights and we can see that the iron sights are slightly not centered.

Although, it is difficult to notice a difference without an Optic the staggering change is brought to our attention with images of the player aiming down sight with the Slate Reflector and Nydar Model 47.

Vanguard mp40 gliched optic sight

It’s clear to see in the photo above that the reticle is way off center which would make it incredibly difficult to accurately hit targets. You can check out the original post to see more images of the broken reticles.

One comment perfectly captures the reaction of seeing the Nydar Model 47 reticle in the image above “First pic: i dont see an issue? Second pic: how the f***”

Although some settings such as motion blur can cause a momentary distortion of your weapon Optics when firing, it’s clear in the image that the player is not firing bullets and simply aiming down sight.

The title of the post also speculates that this issue is impacting Warzone players, which should place it high on the priority list for the devs to fix.
