There’s a ton of anticipation for Modern Warfare 2, and here’s everything that we know about Call of Duty 2022 so far, including the release date, a new mode called DMZ, and the game’s platforms.

Call of Duty fans are always eager to learn more about the next big title that will be released, and there is plenty of anticipation for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2. Information about the game is scarce but we do have some information.

While the developers haven’t revealed anything about Call of Duty 2022, we’ve been able to find out details like the release date, new game modes, platforms, and some interesting leaks.

Here’s everything we know about Call of Duty 2022.

What is the Call of Duty 2022 title?

According to a leak from insider Tom Henderson, the name of the 2022 Call of Duty game will be ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.’ In this leak, they also claimed to have seen the artwork for the game.

This information lines up with what Charlie INTEL has also heard about the 2022 Call of Duty game, although we’d caution that Activision can change the name at any point leading to the reveal.

Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 release date

At the time of writing, it’s believed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be arriving sometime around November 2022. However, there is no exact release date confirmed for the game yet.

Going by Activision’s record, most previous titles in this popular franchise were released between October and November, so we expect to see Call of Duty 2022 come around the same time.

We’ll keep checking for any official release date announcements by the developers and will be sure to update this article once we have more concrete information.

Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 maps

CoD leaker RalphsValve leaked five maps that players can expect to see in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. These are some of the most popular ones in the entire series and we might see them return.

Here are the returning Modern Warfare 2 maps:

  • Favela
  • Highrise
  • Shipment
  • Terminal
  • Quarry

Favela would pit players against each other in enclosed areas while Terminal provided some excellent sniping opportunities to Call of Duty players during long-range combat situations.

Highrise led to tons of 360, no-scope montages and birthed several world-famous CoD clans and Shipment is so popular that it’s currently still featured in titles like Call of Duty: Vanguard.

However, these are currently just leaks, and we might see the addition of entirely different maps in the final game once it arrives.

Call of Duty 2022: DMZ mode in Modern Warfare 2

This information came from notable Tom Henderson who claims that Modern Warfare 2 will come with a brand-new game mode. The leaks suggest that it will be called “DMZ.”

While we don’t know exactly what the game mode will entail, the leaker described this mode as “MWII’s take on Escape From Tarkov.” Previous leaks suggested that the objective will be to collect loot from different maps.

You’ll drop into several locations and will have to plunder through abandoned homes, buildings, vehicles, crates, and corpses.

From this description, it seems that DMZ will be one of the most grounded game modes in the upcoming title. Hopefully, it will make for an intense experience for Call of Duty 2022 players.

However, this is currently just speculation and has yet to be confirmed. We’ll be sure to update this article as soon as we learn some more official information about Modern Warfare 2’s game modes.

Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 platforms

We also got some more information about which platforms Modern Warfare 2 will be available on. According to Henderson, the game will be available on both current-gen and past-generation consoles.

Both Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard are cross-gen Call of Duty titles, and these leaks suggest that Modern Warfare 2 will continue this trend. However, it may be the last one to do so.

“It’s currently believed that this will be the last Call of Duty coming to past generation consoles, but it will ultimately depend on the console market conditions,” Tom Henderson tweeted.

Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 campaign leaks

Back in September, individuals on Reddit and Medium blog noticed a back-end server opening into NVIDIA’s GeForce technology site that let them see the games being tested out on their servers.

One of the games by Activision and Infinity Ward was listed as “Project Cortez,” which is a possible codename for Modern Warfare 2. After this, some new potential plot details for Call of Duty 2022 were shared by VGC.

According to the leak, “Modern Warfare’s sequel will include a campaign involving US special forces fighting a covert war against Columbian drug cartels.” This was also backed up by Tom Henderson.

It’s worth keeping in mind that these are currently just leaks, and this information has yet to be verified by the developers themselves. Until they officially announce something, you should take this with a grain of salt.

Modern Warfare 2 leaker claims five fan-favorite maps will return in CoD 2022

A fresh leak has hinted at five potential fan-favorite maps that players will be able to see in the rumored CoD 2022 Modern Warfare 2 title.

A CoD leaker has outed five fan-favorite maps that players can expect to see in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the 2022 sequel to 2019’s reboot of the franchise.

Leaks and leakers are commonplace in 2021 with people able to get their hands on classified information a lot more easily than in years gone. This is why it’s no surprise to see a leak regarding Modern Warfare 2’s maps.

Despite Call of Duty: Vanguard not being out yet, the rumor mill is already going crazy about details for the 2022 Call of Duty game – supposedly a Modern Warfare sequel.

A leak suggests that Activision is set to carry on its trend from recent years by giving older maps a fresh coat of paint by remastering them for Modern Warfare 2.

The leak in question comes from Twitter user @RalphsValve, and they have listed several of the franchise’s most famous maps that will be returning.

In a Tweet, they have leaked the following maps for the alleged Modern Warfare 2 sequel:

  • Favela
  • Highrise
  • Shipment
  • Terminal
  • Quarry

Favela was a great tight-knit map that had players battling in enclosed areas and hopping through doors and windows. Terminal is regarded as an all-time CoD map great due to how balanced and interesting the map is – plus that sniping window.

Highrise led to tons of 360, no-scope montages and birthed several world-famous CoD clans and Shipment seems to be the new Nuketown as it’s in a lot of games now – even Vanguard.

Finally, Quarry perhaps hasn’t received as much attention or love, but made for some tricky games, especially Search & Destroy, as players battled with its verticality and the construction blocks.

Again, this is a leak, so this information may not turn out to be 100% true, especially at this early stage in the Call of Duty 2022 discussion.

2022’s Modern Warfare 2 to release new Warzone map with classic POIs

Call of Duty 2022 is rumored to have a new Warzone map, alongside a new third mode that is similar to Battlefield 2042’s Hazard Zone.

A new report claims to shed some new details on what to expect from Infinity Ward’s next title set to release in 2022, including first details on the potential new Warzone map for the game.

According to a report from Tom Henderson, shared via VGC News, Call of Duty 2022 will include a new Warzone map that will launch soon after the game, similar to Vanguard x Warzone’s integration.

Call of Duty 2022 is set to be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, being a direct sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019.

Per this new report in VGC News, the new Warzone map in development for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will feature classic Modern Warfare 2 (2009) locations, including an expanded version of Favela, along with other classic maps from the game, like Afghan, Terminal, Quarry, and more.

These classic maps and areas will be stitched together to form the new Warzone map for Modern Warfare II.

Activision declined to comment on the report. No official information on Call of Duty 2022 is expected until mid Summer 2022.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s second massive map will be Caldera, launching on December 3, 2021 as part of the game’s integration with Call of Duty: Vanguard. This will be the first massive new map update for Warzone since its original launch back in March 2020.

The report from VGC also states that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II could feature a new third mode that is similar to Battlefield 2042’s Hazard Zone. Hazard Zone mode in Battlefield 2042 featured a mix of Escape From Tarkov, along with some Battle Royale elements, into a singular mode.

The campaign for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will be a sequel to Modern Warfare 2019 and feature Task Force 141 taking on Colombian Drug Cartels.

CharlieIntel cannot confirm these above details in regards to the Warzone’s map locales, but we’ve been able to confirm the game will be a sequel to Modern Warfare 2019.

As always, we will update as more information on Call of Duty 2022 comes to light.

The new rumor, from leaker Tom Henderson, states that the name of the 2022 Call of Duty game will be ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.’

The 2022 Call of Duty title from Infinity Ward is set to be a sequel to Modern Warfare 2019 and feature a story that focuses on the Colombian drug cartels.

The game is currently codenamed Project Cortez, according to leaked NVIDIA files.
